Students wipe the board at St Andrews

The Harper Adams Clay Pigeon Shooting Club was bang on target last week at the annual St Andrews Challenge, scooping the top spot in most categories.

Entering eleven teams in total, the students competed against around 20 universities from across the country at the renowned competition in Scotland.

All of the Harper teams performed well, with the newest team members, in the form of freshers, displaying their talents for one of the first times.

The results are as follows -

Men's Teams
1st - Harper Adams Men’s 1sts (246/300)
2nd - Harper Adams Men’s 2nds (239/300)
Ladies Teams
1st - Harper Adams Ladies 1sts (170/300)
Alumni Teams
3rd - Harper Adams Alumni (Postgraduates) (171/300)

High Guns for the day included Harper Agricultural Engineering student, James Brown and Business Management with Marketing student, Zara Whitfield.

To conclude the event, the students joined together to enjoy the ‘Welly Ball’ – a night of cocktails, hog roast and fireworks.

The Clay Pigeon Shooting Club at Harper is highly popular and open to anyone, regardless of experience. The men’s and women’s teams compete at both regional and national levels.

They have their own ground close to the University College in Shropshire, and host weekly shoots on a Wednesday.
